The Hanham Clinic Celebrating Six Months of Shockwave Therapy in Bristol

It’s officially been six months since we introduced radial shockwave therapy in Bristol at The Hanham Clinic, following our investment in a top-of-the-range Storz Masterpulse machine. This high-power, clinically trusted system is widely used across the UK and has been an excellent addition to our existing skill set as chiropractors in Bristol and sonographers. Alongside manipulation, massage, rehabilitation and diagnostic ultrasound, shockwave therapy has helped us further improve outcomes for the many cases of tendinitis and tendinopathy we treat here in Bristol.

Some of the most common MSK problems we help with include Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciopathy (plantar fasciitis), and various rotator cuff disorders. These conditions are often slow to settle, but shockwave therapy has allowed us to offer a highly evidence-based, non-invasive option for patients across Bristol seeking fast, effective pain relief. Furthermore it has genuinely enhanced our patient care, and we’re proud to see the consistent improvements it brings.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

We are often asked how Radial shockwave therapy works. In simple terms, the shockwave creates a controlled inflammatory response, stimulating the body’s natural tissue repair mechanisms.  Significantly shockwave therapy also has a mechanical effect by breaking down dysfunctional tissue, improving circulation, reducing pain and restoring mobility. This makes it particularly useful for:

  • Chronic tendinopathy
  • Myofascial trigger points
  • Muscle stiffness
  • Overuse injuries
  • Long-standing tendon pain

For more about the conditions we treat, you can visit our MSK conditions page.

Shockwave Therapy Appointments in Bristol

We continue to welcome new patients looking for shockwave therapy in Bristol, and appointments are usually available at short notice.

Your first session is a full clinical assessment, where we will:

  • Take a detailed history
  • Examine the affected area
  • Confirm whether shockwave therapy is appropriate
  • Discuss any alternative treatments you may not have explored

Shockwave therapy is most effective when combined with a structured rehabilitation programme. All of our practitioners are trained to advise on strengthening, load management and tendon rehab strategies.

You can learn more about our wider rehab approach on our shockwave therapy information page.
